With so many smart hoops out there, it can be overwhelming trying to determine which one to buy and which is right for the individual hooper. From tubing size and color options to internal vs external batteries to pattern quantity and customization level, each of the current smart hoops out on the market brings different things to the table.
The ZL Pandora ⅝ is a true gem with 1600 unique patterns combinations, double density LEDs, and an extremely durable design. Only a few big smart hoop companies are making them in ⅝ tubing currently and this one is definitely worth checking out! When you really take the time to discover all this hoop can do, the possibilities are endless.
You can easily customize the hue of all the colors and rainbow settings that come standard on the hoop. You can also program the hoop’s pattern to be in any single color or shade from the 9 option color wheel. In addition, you can add a background color or pattern of your choice to any of the existing patterns. You can also easily adjust how long shuffle stays on a single pattern from 1 second to 9 seconds. These are just a few of the options I have mastered so far and I am eager to see what else this hoop can do. Did I mention you can do all of this from the remote?!
Unlike some other smart LED hoops out there, you cannot upload your own patterns to this hoop. However, you can customize ANY pattern that is stored within the hoop to your liking and preferences. This customization is done from the remote at any time, instead of requiring a connection to a computer or phone. Hence why the remote has so many buttons. Since you don’t use any other device with the hoop, the hoop itself displays everything you need: the battery life, the brightness level, which color option you are in, which shuffle mode you are in and the unique serial number of your hoop.
Don’t let the quick start guide instructions that come with the hoop or the remote confuse or overwhelm you. There are more in-depth instructions in their online user guideand tons of tutorials on the internet that help clarify everything and will walk you through all you need to know. The ZL Pandora is a truly incredible and mesmerizing hoop with so many different functions and settings.
Besides the “zillion lights” and over a thousand unique pattern combinations, the weight of the hoop is awesome. It is not too heavy and pretty well balanced with 2 counterbalance weights to oppose the battery weight, which makes it easy to flow with.
I not only love the size of the tubing, but that it comes in multiple colored tubing options. For testing purposes, we received 1 purple and 1 green polypro in ⅝. The LEDs on full brightness come through very well with the colored tubing and don’t seem to diffuse the lights too much.
This hoop comes with: 4 batteries, battery charger, battery case, hoop wax, remote with 2 extra batteries, sandpaper, neon orange accessory bag with carrying strap, toothbrush for cleaning, branded ZL hoop bracelet and sticker.
The ZL Pandora is a fantastic hoop for everyday play and for festivals. I might not recommend this hoop for performers specifically as the single battery did seem to die rather quickly on continuous play and it does require some adjustments with the remote as sometimes it would stop shuffling and get stuck on one pattern or mode.
The remote did also seem to have some sensitivity issues at times. Sometimes when pressing buttons nothing happened or something did happen, but it was not the pattern or color I intended to select. This could likely be adjusted and fixed after spending time to get yourself acclimated with the remote and getting the hoop in the right shuffle sequence and mode. LEDs did appear somewhat pixelated in comparison with other top smart hoops that are available in the same price range. The Standard AAA 10440 600mAh rechargeable batteries (we had TrustFire brand) seemed to last 1-2 hours depending on the brightness setting, but overall that’s okay since you can always keep extras on hand and just swap them out!
It was a little difficult to push the button connector in and out to remove the batteries and turn on/off the hoop. Does seem to loosen up over time and become easier.
-Tons of customization options and capabilities once you learn
-Bright, double-density LEDs
-⅝ tubing size and multiple colored tubing options offered
-Lightweight and nicely balanced
-Tons of patterns (1600 possible combinations)
-Remote and initial setup can be difficult to learn and use. We recommend extensively reading the online guide to fully understand the various functions and how they operate.
-Small battery gap, although this is common for hoops that have removable batteries and not all hoopers have an issue with a gap (It is worth noting that the company does have a gapless option in ¾ tubing with external, removable batteries and is one of the first companies to offer this).
Overall, the ZL Pandora is a fantastic product! It’s lightweight design and many stored patterns and functions make this an exceptional hoop for any occasion. If you’re a seasoned hooper or just starting out on your hoop journey, this hoop has programmable options that are perfect for all levels. It will take some time to learn the remote and all its functions, but in my opinion, it is well worth the effort!
