As a parent, you know there are times you can’t reason with your children, they can be unreasonable, little monsters. Sometimes you have to get a little creative, it’s what spawned “open your mouth for the choo-choo trains” as you shoveled nutritious but disgusting slime into their little mouths . That same creative spirit overcame Lizzy Martin, who just wanted her three young girls to brush their hair. These tiny tyrants would look at brush like you or I would look at cockroach–with disgust and the absolute last thing we want on our heads. That’s why she created Tangle Pets; a hair brush with a cute, little stuffed animal attached to it.
With Tangle Pets Lizzy’s kids went from hating brushing their hair to doing it in their free time. That’s when Lizzy knew she had something big on her hands. To make Tangle Pets a reality, Lizzy applied to be a contestant on “The 100,000 Pyramid” and won 50,000 dollars. That money got her a market ready product. As a tribute every Tangle Pet has a little triangle on it.
Lizzy wants to instill self-confidence in her children so she has them brush their hair with a Tangle Pet in front of a mirror and repeat daily affirmations. She has them “I am brave, I am strong, I am loved.” So while the Tangle Pet ultimately a brush, it’s part of Lizzy and her family’s ritual of self-empowerment.
