SolSource, a revolutionary new solar-powered cooker, is improving lives around the globe right now—soon it will improve yours, too. The best part? It doesn’t need any charcoal, gas, or other kinds of expensive and exhaustible fuel. All it needs is the sun.
In 2007, One Earth Designs, a social enterprise that’s already received a number of awards for their groundbreaking creations, set out to help the nomadic communities of the Himalayan Plateau, where sandstorms, dangerous winds, snow, and -40 degree temperatures threaten life. The result was SolSource—a reliable, durable grill built to function in some of the most adverse weather conditions.
The venture was a stunning success, and every day, SolSource makes life easier for Himalayan families who no longer have to scavenge for fuel and fill their homes with dangerous pollutants just to make a simple meal.Recognizing the world-changing potential of SolSource, One Earth Designs is now making it available for everyone, offering an affordable and convenient way to cook outdoors while protecting the environment.
SolSource can grill, steam, bake, boil, or fry, all without requiring any help but the natural heat of the sun. That doesn’t mean you can only cook on hot, sunny days, either. Temperature is irrelevant to SolSource—it can even be used in below-freezing temperatures. As long as the sky is moderately clear, SolSource will cook your food in minutes.
With SolSource, you aren’t sacrificing speed for convenience, either. In fact, you’re increasing it. SolSource heats up five times faster than charcoal, so you won’t have to wait to get down to the serious business of eating.
SolSource converts sunlight into heat with 92% efficiency, and on a clear day, it will reach grilling and baking temperatures in 5 minutes and searing temperatures in 10. Yet even with all the heat it produces, the panels will remain cool to the touch, as they merely reflect sunlight to the focal point just under the plate, pot, pan, kettle, wok—or any other cooking method you prefer.
SolSource is made with steel tubing, rigid plastic backing, and a patented polymer reflective material. The sturdy frame can hold up to 40 lbs while withstanding even the harshest weather. Your first assembly will likely take 30-45 minutes, but once you’re familiar with the intuitive design, it’ll be more like 15.
Then, when you’re ready to pack it away, just fold it down for easy transportation or storage. If you’d rather leave it up, that’s fine too—the durable SolSource can handle the elements, no problem. Because of the rigorous environmental and ethical concerns of the creators, SolSource is 100% pollution-free and 100% recyclable. It’s fast, it’s clean, it’s simple, and it’ll change the way you cook.
