For the longest time oil lamps had a vice grip on the home lighting system, then some guy named Edison came along and changed the game by creating the light bulb. A few changes have been made to the light bulb since then, mostly them becoming smarter and controllable through your smartphone. Standing on the shoulders of giants, Kleverness is looking to take the home lighting system to new heights with its intuitive usability and reasonable price.
Kleverness is an easy to install, smart, home lighting system that lets you fully automate your lights from anywhere and monitor your energy consumption. It’s compatible with existing smart home technology including Apple Homekit, Amazon Echo, Google Home, Samsung SmartThings) and doesn’t require any neutral wiring or special bulbs.
With the use of geofencing and the GPS on your phone, you can ensure that your lights turn on or off as you come and go. Kleverness can be controlled from anywhere in the world from a smart device and uses artificial intelligence to mimic your lighting habits to make it look like someone’s home when you’re on vacation.
The Kleverness app allows you to set routines with your lights, so you can have them turn on at a certain time with your alarm or have sync up with the sunrise. You can just as easily use the app to monitor the energy consumed by each individual switch, and have the option of getting notifications for daily, monthly, and yearly reports. That way you’ll know when an old bulb is drawing too much power and can replace it.
Each Klever switch and dimmer works as a radio repeater, meaning that the two-way radio signals can cover long distances, thereby illuminating and darkening even the farthest corners of your house even if they are far from the hub. The Kleverness hub connects straight to the router and doesn’t rely on WiFi. It supports unlimited users per household but the primary user can limit the usage for everyone else if they choose to.
Compared to the $200 price range of the Phillips Hue Smart Starter Kit, Kleverness looks pretty good with pledges starting at $87 for the hub and dimmer or switch. Though it looks like that early bird special is almost sold out, it’s only couple dollars more for the next tier. If you wanted to make multiple rooms ‘smart’ it’s only $49 for a switch or dimmer and $35 for an additional outlet.
