Before now, there was virtually no way to communicate with a fellow driver short of exhibiting an obscene gesture, or ineffectively using your voice. CarWink seeks to change all that with their innovative product that allows you to “send” emojis to the person behind you in order to let them know what’s going on or how you feel.
CarWink is a solar-powered, LED device that sticks to your back window and delivers messages like a thumbs up, a sorry face emoji, accident ahead and many more. These emojis are sent via voice command similar to Alexa or Google Assistant, all you have to do is say “CarWink” followed by what you would like to communicate.
CEO and Founder, Wei Cheng Chou, said he created CarWink in order to “impact the way drivers communicate while on the road. It’s hard to communicate gratitude or even alert another driver of something coming ahead. We want road rage to be a thing of the past with CarWink. We wanted CarWink to make the road a more connected place and provide drivers with their own unique driving style.”
These are some of the Emojis and phrases that you will be able to communicate, with more to come as people become accustomed to, and use CarWink.
CarWink’s vision for the future may involve users creating their own phrases or emojis. They also would like to research the customs of other countries and regions to provide an authentic experience for those particular users to make for a culturally fluent experience.
The device itself is portable and fairly unobtrusive when placed on your back window. It comes in at 4.7” x 4.7” x 4.7” when closed making it easy to transport or conceal in your glove compartment. Its full measurements when open are 4.7” x 4.7” x 10.2.” CarWink can be found on Indiegogo on demand for 20% off their market price. They are estimated to ship sometime in August 2018 so make sure to reserve yours now.
